Fredericksburg, Virginia offers a wonderful, homey, small-town feel with all the comforts of a big city. This conveniently located city is located halfway between Virginia’s capital, Richmond Virginia, and the nation’s capitol at Washington, D.C. A vibrant place for shopping, dining, entertainment and more, Fredericksburg attracts more tourists each year. Moreover, more and more people are relocating to new homes in Fredericksburg for good. America’s Most Historic city has something to offer people of all ages.
Fredericksburg has a thriving senior community, both because of the attractive economy and the multitude of activities offered to those who are 55 and older.
A program run by the Fredericksburg Senior Citizens Association, the Senior Center offers various trips and activities out of their Canal and Charles Street location. In addition to the overnight trips, cruises and dinner shows that are planned every year, the center offers fun activities like canasta and bingo on a weekly basis.
A monthly luncheon keeps members and visitors mingling. Many members bring dishes to share with the group, so it’s not only an opportunity to socialize, but an opportunity to show off one’s culinary skills. Membership is very affordable and the association is quick to respond to inquiries.
One of the big draws of Turnberry East at Lee’s Hill is that it’s a golf community – the only 55+ Golf Community south of Washington DC in fact. Since it’s the only one, it’s definitely worth looking at the golf course in question – Lee’s Hill Golf Club.
The golf course ranges between 5,064 and 6,834 yards depending on which set of tees you use, with the course offering four different levels to accommodate a range of skills. While water only comes into direct play on one hole, the par 4 6th, it lurks around several others and definitely has to be in the back of your mind.
Overall the course features four Par 3 holes, four Par 5 holes, and ten Par 4 holes. The shortest hole is the Par 3 17th at 161 yards even from the back tees, while the Par 5 2nd is the longest, a monstrous 558 yards from the back tees that is sure to challenge even the biggest hitters to reach the green in two.
At Hazel Homes we know why anybody looking to build a new home should look at King George and Hopyard Farm, but not everybody does. So what are the advantages to living in King George? Why should you build a new home in King George, VA?
Given that King George is near some of the richest counties in the country, the fact that those living there have the lowest tax rates in the Metro DC area is a huge advantage. For those that work in Washington DC or Northern Virginia but just can’t see themselves paying the outrageous rates those areas have, King George offers the same quality of life at a much more appealing price.
Hopyard Farm is the only master-planned community in the tax-haven county. Other competitors, like Potomac Landing or areas like Colonial Beach, have higher taxes and fees than Hopyard. It is also the only community with public sewer and water access; plus, Hopyard is the only one with a fiber optic data infrastructure for the community.
